2014 A Reset to My Fitness Goals

01 Jan

It was almost exactly one year ago that I started this personal blog to share my experiences along the way.  You can look back at the archives to see the details of that post.  But I had set some fairly lofty goals at the beginning of 2013 and as 2013 comes to a close I'm looking forward to setting new goals for 2014 to help continue down the path of self improvement.

2013 Progress

Over the past few months I've received a number of emails asking how things have been progressing.  Although numbers wise I have not dropped as much weight as I would have hoped, there have been a number of extenuating circumstances that have hampered progress.  Although I'm still at about 1/2 of my aggressive 60+ lb loss goal for 2013.

I see this as a great amount of progress as I look back at my tracking and see that I've only been to the gym a total of 4 times since October 1st, 2013.  This means that although I'm not losing the fact that I'm within 2 lbs of my weight from September that I'm doing better with the diet side of things.

Additionally the physical appearance aspect of things is still fairly apparent based on commentary that was received at multiple events this year from people that I hadn't seen in 6 months to a year.

Looking Forward At 2014

As I approach 2014 I see this as a great time to reset things and get back on to the path that I started 2013 on.  Given that I'm further along my weight loss goals than I have been in years past I'm going to focus more on goals around activity & performance rather than actual pounds etc.  In 2013 I was easily swayed away from the routine of regular exercise.  My goal for 2014 is simple, continue the better habits I've already formed with eating better, and get to the gym.  Regardless of the things going on making sure that I get there on a regular basis.  By simply keeping these two things going I'm positive that I will be be successful.

In closing, thanks to everyone for their support.  To those of you that are going along similar journeys I hope that my story can help keep you motivated as well as everyones support has kept me motivated.  To everyone I wish you all success!
